BMEMF exists to promote the making and enjoyment of early music in the Border Marches region, Shropshire and Herefordshire and neighbouring areas of Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Powys and Gwent.

We aim to provide day or weekend workshops using tutors of national excellence and the expertise of professional musicians in the region. Our commitment is to provide music away from conurbations and our venues include small market towns, National Trust properties and village churches. Though some workshops are for musicians with some experience, new members are always welcome. Other workshops are explicitly designed to encourage adults and children to explore the early music repertoire. Members often make contact with fellow enthusiasts and arrange singing or playing sessions.
